The DS3000 turbine is a 3kW power vertical axis wind turbine, it combines a dual system consisting of Darrieus blades that guarantee high efficiency and Savonius blades that enable the system to be activated with very weak winds. This technology mix makes Hi-VAWT an highly innovative product: equipped with controllers that can handle maximum power based on wind speed, direct-drive permanent magnet generator.

These turbines are built according to the IEC 61400-2 certification, a very important factor for small power generators. The size of the product perfectly reflects the technology of a vertical axis capable of generating 3000W of wind power at 12m/s, and cumulating from 20 to 40kWh per day with winds between 9 and 12m/s.

The peculiarities of the DS3000 turbine allow for a possible annual output that exceeds abundantly 6,000kWh with medium winds greater than 6m/s.

MECHANICAL FEATURES

Unique Hybrid Technology

The dual-rotor wind turbine that facilitates starting with the wind breeze and exponentially increases with strong winds up to 18m/s. Certified IEC 61400-2 in South Korea and Japan, BWEA compliance tests completed at TUV NEL (UK), JWSTA certification in Japan for the FIT like in US and UK.

  • A: Darrieus blades made of aluminum, with an arc wedge curve, to best distribute the tension force to optimize wind capture and increase energy production.

  • B1:Darrieus blade fastening plate, blade connection has been designed to eliminate the potential for breaks with very strong winds and reduce the possibility of damage to the generator in case of breakage of the blade.

  • B2: Savonius blades, perfect as they are oriented on the four cardinal points to capture wind from any direction, without the need for rotor orientation.

  • B3: Vertical axis of the turbine, built in ASTM type A283 grade D steel (better known as SS400) suitable for working at temperatures of -2o~+40°C.

  • B4: Darrieus blade fastening plate, blade connection has been designed to eliminate the potential for breaks with very strong winds and reduce the possibility of damage to the generator in case of breakage of the blade.

  • B5: Direct drive permanent magnet generator, high performance bearings with resistance to rigid temperatures, a key feature for working with strong constant winds, where mechanical stress is very strong.

  • B6: Manual mechanical brake, this protection system acts on the rotation and is mainly used for maintenance and shutdown of the machine.

  • B7: Overvoltage wire for the manual brake to be welded to the pole with its support “C” shape.

  • B8: Dumper, a fundamental component to minimize the vibration and therefore the noise of the turbine.

  • B9: R/S/T three-phase generator cables designed for connection to a battery charger or a grid inverter.

  • C1-2-3: Various screws for Darrieus blade connections, flange of the turbine on pole.

INSTALLATIONS SAMPLES

Mini wind farm

Japan. Installation of 6 3kW turbines for total energy sales. The advantages of the 18kW mini wind farm are numerous: minimal impact on the environment thanks to 8m poles, the groundwater is not damaged by shallow foundations, the park continues to produce energy when the machine is stopped.

Parking area

Taiwan. Installation at a parking lot for the total sale of the energy produced, 3 machines installed on 6m height poles for a total power of 9kW.

Telecom radio towers

Mongolia. Installation of a 3kW turbine with photovoltaic system and emergency generator, energy mix to make the telecommunication tower self-sufficient in an isolated area from the power grid. The accumulated battery solution makes the energy produced always available.
